FAPLAB

Research on laboratory design methods for anti-skid asphalt pavements to enhance road safety

Aim of the project

The main objective of the project is to investigate a methodology to design asphalt mixes in the laboratory and to evaluate/predict the safety of the road surface by means of its long-term anti-slip behaviour simulating the action of traffic. To this end, work is being carried out on the test described in the UNE.EN 12697-49- "Determination of friction in hot asphalt mixes after polishing (FAP). Method Wehner et Schulze (W&S)".
