CON-S

Research on Sustainable and Highly Durable Construction Elements

Aim of the project

The aim of the project CON-S is the development of a sandwich panel with a core of insulating material and a textile-reinforced concrete skin, being a lightweight, easily reusable, durable and recyclable construction element. Furthermore, its components will have a low environmental impact, based on waste and biological resources. In this way, insulating materials will be developed that are composed of bio-based foams instead of conventional foams derived from fossil resources. In parallel, the following will be developed geopolymer-based concretes or alkaline activated waste, replacing conventional Portland cement. In addition, these concretes shall be reinforced with fibre netting instead of steel bars, allowing for the production of panels of very high quality. low thickness. The resulting system will provide an alternative solution for building envelopes with different uses, and will contribute to the sustainability y circularity in the construction sector.
