CTCON Participates in the SCMT6 International Congress in Lyon

Aim of the project

The Construction Technology Centre of the Region of Murcia (CTCON) had the honour of participating in the prestigious international congress SCMT6 - Sustainable Construction Materials and Technologies Conferences, held from 9 to 14 June 2024 at the University of Lyon, Ecole Nationale des Travaux Publics de I'Etat (ENTPE) in Lyon, France. This event is one of the most relevant worldwide in the field of sustainable materials and technologies in construction, bringing together experts, researchers and practitioners from various parts of the world.

The conference, which is available in print and online ISSN under the title "Sustainable Construction Materials and Technologies", covered a wide range of topics crucial to the future of sustainable construction. Topics discussed included carbon dioxide sequestration, designing structures with sustainable materials, energy management during construction and use of buildings, greenhouse gas reduction, end-of-life of materials that can be disassembled and reused or recycled, and life cycle analysis of materials. In addition, new material production technologies and innovative construction techniques were explored, as well as waste recycling and the use of by-products in building materials.

Within this framework of innovation and sustainability, our colleague Fernando Fernández presented a paper entitled "Effect of High Gypsum Contents in Mortars Made with Portland Cement and Alkali Activated Slag". This study examines the impact of high gypsum content in mortars made with Portland Cement and Alkali Activated Slag, providing valuable insights into the durability and sustainability of these materials in construction applications. Fernandez's research was notable for its focus on improving the quality and durability of building materials while maintaining sustainability standards, a central goal for CTCON. His research not only underscores CTCON's ability to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in sustainable building materials, but also reinforces our commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in the sector.

Participating in SCMT6 has been an invaluable opportunity for CTCON, as this congress is a forum where the latest scientific and technological advances are shared, current challenges in the sector are discussed and new avenues for sustainable development in construction are explored. In addition, the congress allowed our team to establish contacts with other professionals and academics, facilitating future collaborations and joint projects. These partnerships are fundamental to continue driving innovation and applying new ideas in our practices and technological developments.

At CTCON, we are strongly committed to sustainability and research into materials and technologies that contribute to a greener and more efficient future. Participation in events such as SCMT6 is an integral part of our strategy to remain at the forefront of innovation in our industry. Through research and development, we seek not only to improve the quality and durability of building materials, but also to reduce the environmental impact of our activities and products.

Fernando Fernández's success at SCMT6 is a testament to the dedication of our team, as well as the effectiveness of our research initiatives. We will continue to support and encourage participation in international events, convinced that the exchange of knowledge and experience is key to progress and sustainability in construction.
