The Construction Technology Centre of the Region of Murcia (CTCON) is organising an open innovation challenge in Big Data. Companies are invited to pose a challenge on this topic. The description of the chosen challenge will be published and disseminated inviting start-ups, entrepreneurs, researchers, etc. to offer a solution. The winning solution (chosen in a committee between the company itself, PTEC and CTCON) will be offered to the company proposing the challenge free of charge. CTCON will reward the inventor.
The process begins at this point with the proposal by CTCON as PROMOTER of all the companies in the sector interested in participating to tell us what challenge they have in terms of the exploitation of a set of data from their daily activity from which they want to extract value, information, that they are not obtaining so far and believe they can achieve.
ALL COMPANIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RELATED SECTORS ARE INVITED TO SEND US YOUR CHALLENGE!
Among the IDEAS received by CTCON and PTEC from the companies, a Committee made up of staff from these organisations will choose one of them. At that moment, the natural or legal person who has proposed that IDEA becomes the PROPONENT, and that idea becomes the CHALLENGE.
The CHALLENGE will be finalised to the desired level of concreteness. If deemed necessary and possible, a data set or set of data on which to demonstrate the correct approach to the proposed solution.
The CHALLENGE will be published on the website of the PLATAFORMA TECNOLÓGICA ESPAÑOLA DE LA CONSTRUCCIÓN, PTEC, and on the IPOI (ISAAC PERAL OPEN INNOVATION) platform.
The CHALLENGE SOLUTION will be selected by a Committee formed by CTCON and PTEC. The solution will not be required to be a mature product capable of solving the CHALLENGE in a real environment, with a performance and technical robustness appropriate to a product on the market, but it must be a methodology, algorithm, technique or technology that presents or demonstrates total or partial potential to be a future solution to the CHALLENGE. This does not prevent the Committee from taking into account the degree of progress or maturity of the SOLUTION when assessing it.
The evaluation of the responses to the CHALLENGE will take into consideration the technical capability of the INVENTOR to carry out a project that continues the challenge, outside the scope of this programme, until the SOLUTION becomes a mature and applicable product at real production scale.
The CHALLENGE may be declared void if the Committee deems it necessary, depending on the quality of the SOLUTIONS received.
The CTCON prize will award the INVENTOR whose CHALLENGE SOLUTION is chosen as the winner with a bank cheque for 1,500 € (One thousand five hundred euros) as a prize.
Proprietary rights to the solution - All information comprising the proposed solutions to the CHALLENGE submitted by the INVENTORS, in any format or medium, shall be the exclusive property of the respective INVENTORS. Neither the PROPONENT nor CTCON or any other entity participating in the process shall reserve any rights to the technology, present or future.
The aim of this open innovation programme is that, at the end of the programme and outside its scope, PROPONENT and INVENTOR can develop a project that culminates in an innovative product or process, created by both of them in cooperation. To this end, all the agents will facilitate the creation of this scenario for future collaboration, to the extent of their possibilities and as far as they consider appropriate.
In the event that there is a subsequent project to continue this programme, with the purpose expressed in point 5, between INVENTOR and PROPONENT, the PROPONENT company undertakes to compensate CTCON with the amount of the prize of 1,500 €.
