1ST INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON RECYCLING OF CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION WASTE organised by the Spanish Recycling Sector and coordinated by RCD Asociación and the magazine Demoliciones y Reciclaje, which will take place in Madrid on the following days 30 and 31 October 2019 under the slogan "For a Sustainable Circular Economy in Construction".
Nowadays, CDW, due to its large production volume, impact on the environment and ease of recycling, is one of the five priority sectors in the EU for a circular economy, where the construction sector and the agents involved derive their proposals towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly models.
The Congress aims to disseminate knowledge at international level for the correct management of CDW and the efficient and viable use of recycled materials, making known the most relevant experiences and the current legal tools for the control of their management, as well as regulatory standards for the use and applications of recycled aggregates.
The circular economy for CDW demands a paradigm shift from eco-design in projects, deconstruction, selection at source, recycling, to the implementation of aggregates and recycled materials, which should lead to new challenges and opportunities in the coming years.
In this sense, the construction sector is undoubtedly evolving towards sustainability criteria, with special respect and commitment to the environment; this implies that the correct management of CDW contributes directly not only to avoiding its deposit in dumps or landfills, but also, through its recovery and recycling, to savings in the extraction of natural resources.
The appearance of new legislation and the revision in Spain of RD 105/2008, based on the new concepts of circular economy of the European Directives, are creating more favourable expectations for the recycling sector, which must position itself before all the agents that intervene in its life cycle in such a way that the established recovery objectives can be met.
The meeting is aimed at all agents in the construction sector, managers, developers, builders, demolishers, transporters, technicians from Public Administrations and the construction sector, as well as for promoters of recycling initiatives in third countries, mainly Latin American, who will find in the Congress the experiences of countries in the European Union and the necessary impetus for their development.
During these two days, there will be national and international presentations, the circular economy will be analysed, the most controversial points in the sector will be debated and the latest news on recycled aggregates, applications, machinery, legislation, regulations, projects, etc. will be discussed.
The congress will also feature a exhibition area which will show congress participants the most relevant technological innovations in the sector and which will allow for an exchange of opinions with other specialists and professionals on the most relevant aspects of our activity.
