Smart CE marking and digitalisation in the building materials industry.
Construction products are heavily regulated due to their contribution to the safety and well-being of citizens and economic development. In order to ensure that they can be marketed in Europe without technical barriers, the EC Construction Products Regulation (CPR) 305/2011 states that the performance of most construction products must be in accordance with the relevant harmonised standards. The CPR sets the framework for defining and declaring the applicable regulatory information which has traditionally been done on paper or, more recently, in pdf.
The digitisation of the construction industry calls for a digital format that optimises the transfer of Declaration of Performance information along the value chain, from the manufacturer to the building.
