The government of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia and various economic and civil society organisations in the Region, including CTCON, have signed the Pact for Transport Infrastructure in the Region of Murcia at a ceremony held at the Palacio de San Esteban.
The pact is a roadmap with the strategic infrastructures that Murcian society considers essential for the development of the Region, so that they will be demanded regardless of who is in government in Murcia or in the national government.
The intention with the signing of this pact is that it should be maintained over time, which is why it has been decided to set up a monitoring committee to analyse the progress of the actions demanded. In addition, the aim is to draw up a Strategic Framework for Transport Infrastructures in the Region which will establish the procedures for each project and set the economic amount.
The pact contemplates actions both in the Juan de la Cierva International Airport to take advantage of the goods terminal and initiate air logistics activities, as well as the development of the Aeronautical Activities Zone, and in the Port of Cartagena with the agreement that reinvindicates the Gorguel for containers and to promote the Offshore industry. It also contemplates actions on different roads as well as the Mediterranean rail corridor, as well as a section on internal mobility.
