Last Friday 15th, we had the opportunity to present our experience in the use of photocalytic techniques and the "Cool pavements" technology, used to mitigate the heat island effect in cities, to a delegation of technicians from the City Council of Seoul (Korea) responsible for urban pavements, at the headquarters of the ATC (Technical Association of Roads) in Madrid. To these 7 Korean technicians, we explained the Projects: REPARA 2.0 and HEATLAND LIFE by CTCON technicians and the company CHM Infraestructuras.
These high solar reflectance pavements are part of a research project supported by CDTI and European ERDF funds.
The benefits they showed interest in are what you get:
-Energy savings in lighting systems
Energy savings in air-conditioning systems.
-Improvement of the environment: air quality.
-Improved quality of life: pedestrian comfort and health.
Within the specific objectives of the LIFE HEATLAND project is the demonstration of the effectiveness of innovative paving technology to mitigate the urban heat island effect (UHI). That is, to reduce the local temperature in the project implementation area. To improve the quality of life of citizens.
