ECO-EFFICIENT PREFABRICATED PRODUCTS - PREGEO
The PREGEO project is launched with the aim of developing prefabricated elements that reduce the heat island effect and reduce air pollution; at the same time, advanced prefabricated elements with a near-zero carbon footprint using local waste will be investigated.
The concrete industry is one of the main polluting industries contributing to climate change, as the total emissions attributed to cement production constitute around 7% of total global CO2 emissions. Therefore, there is a need to develop new sustainable materials to reduce the CO2 emissions produced by the manufacture of these products.
The development of this project aims to move towards a circular economy, reduce the effects of climate change and improve air quality by researching eco-efficient products.
The project has a duration of two years. It will be executed by Prefabricados Montalbán y Rodriguez, S.A. with the collaboration of the Centro Tecnológico de la Construcción de la Región de Murcia (CTCON) and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through Spain's multiregional operational programme 2014-2020.
