CDTI ,subsidies for R&D projects to improve production

  • The Ministry of Science and Innovation  has today, 11 May, launched a new call for grants focused on R&D and production improvement projects aimed at increasing the availability of emergency products, improving the treatment of the disease in the current pandemic, improving the diagnosis and clinical management of SARS-CoV-2 infected patients, and contributing to the design, development and implementation of public health measures to effectively respond to the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 epidemic.
  • Specifically, this call will support projects of the following typologies:

  • Individual R&D projects related to research on vaccines, medicines and treatments, medical devices and hospital and medical equipment, disinfectants and protective clothing and equipment, as well as relevant process innovations with a view to efficient production of the necessary products. These projects may be carried out by companies or Technology Centres. and shall have completed by 31 October 2021 at the latest.
  • Individual investment projects for the manufacture of COVID-19 related products which must involve an improvement in normal production systems or an increase in production capacity. These projects may be made by companies and will have to finalise by 31 October 2020 at the latest.
  • The maximum eligible budget per project for the two typologies will be 625,000 euros.with a maximum grant of 500,000 euros per entity (up to 80% of the eligible budget). The projects should be adapted to the health emergency situation and allow for a short-term implementation and start-up with concrete, early and timely results for the current situation..

    The total budget of this call for proposals is EUR 12 million. and may be co-financed through the Spain's ERDF Multi-regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.

    The projects submitted will be evaluated on a regular basis until the available funds are exhausted.

    This extraordinary call for applications is made pursuant to Royal Decree-Law 8/2020 of 17 March on extraordinary urgent measures to address the economic and social impact of COVID-19, as amended by Royal Decree-Law 11/2020 of 31 March adopting additional urgent social and economic measures to address COVID-19.
