On 28 December last, the Council of Ministers approved the Royal Decree creating the Interministerial Commission for the incorporation of the BIM methodology in public procurement.
This commission is born with a main objective which is defined as "Drawing up the Plan for the Incorporation of BIM Methodology in the Public Procurement of the General State Administration and its public bodies and related or dependent public law entities, which must be in line with European advances in this area and the National Public Procurement Strategy.".
The main function of the Interministerial Commission is to draw up the Plan for the Incorporation of the BIM Methodology in the Public Procurement of the General State Administration and its public bodies and related or dependent public law entities, which must be in line with European advances in this area and the National Public Procurement Strategy.
This Plan shall be approved by the Council of Ministers, following a report by the Government's Delegate Commission for Economic Affairs, and shall be reviewed every two years or whenever so agreed by the Commission. The activities carried out and the results obtained in the implementation of the Plan shall be monitored and reported periodically to the Council of Ministers.
In addition, the Interministerial Commission will carry out information and training actions for the staff in charge of implementing the plan, as well as promoting the use of BIM in the professional and educational field of construction.
The Interministerial Commission is also entrusted with representing the Kingdom of Spain in the different international forums in the BIM field, with the aim of positioning Spain as a world reference in this field, promoting the development and knowledge of Spanish companies and entities dedicated to the development of BIM solutions.
