The Provincial Council of Cáceres has approved and given the go-ahead to start work on an experimental section with recycled material on the CC-13.2 road from Zarza de Granadilla to the EX-205. This action is part of the ECO2CIR project approved under the European Interreg V Spain-Portugal programme, which aims to advance the circular economy with the use of construction waste. This is a cross-border cooperation project for the introduction of the ecological and circular economy through waste prevention, recycling and management in the regions of Extremadura, Centro and Alentejo.
Construction and demolition waste
CDW has been identified as a priority waste stream by the European Union. It is now considered that there is a high potential for recycling and reuse of CDW, as some of its components have a high resource value. In particular, there is a reuse market for aggregates derived from waste in roads, housing developments, drainage and other construction projects. In addition, the technology for the separation and recovery of construction and demolition waste is readily available and generally inexpensive.
