3D printing of concrete is in the pipeline booming for some years now. With projects such as Apis Cor and your house built in 24 hours or Be More 3D which manufactured the first 3D printed house in Spain. More and more companies are joining this trend. One of the places that has always stood out in this field is the Netherlands. And this time they have decided to take it a step further, by creating the first Concrete Printing Centre in Eindhoven.
The centre project is a collaboration between BAM Infra, Saint-Gobain Weber Beamix, Bekaert, Witteveen + Bos, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and Van Wijnen. They seek the evolution of additive manufacturing technologies. As well as the reduction of CO2 emissions in construction. Something completely feasible by using 3D technologies to reduce material waste. The centre's first order has also been announced a few days ago: the 3D manufacture of four bicycle bridges in the Netherlands.
This is just the first step of the project, one of the main goals of the new 3D printing centre is to improving technologies and materials to make it a technique that is definitively established in the field of construction.
