The UNE report reveals the existence of 15 standards that promote BIM. These include the UNE-EN ISO 19650 series of standards, which defines the management of information in projects that use BIM. Also noteworthy is the UNE 41316 Standard on digital performance declaration (smart CE marking), which defines a format for sharing the information associated with the CE marking of construction products. In addition, work is being carried out on a dozen future standards in this field.
These standards for the digitisation of the construction industry are mainly elaborated in the technical standardisation committee CTN 41/SC 13. This work is complemented by the activities of other committees, which particularise the criteria and requirements to aspects such as GIS (geographic information systems) or lighting.
BIM standardisation helps to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For example, SDG 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure, SDG 11 on sustainable cities and communities or SDG 17 on partnerships to achieve the goals.
