TERRESTRIAL INFRASTRUCTURES

Terrestrial infrastructures are an indispensable factor for the growth of the economy, considering them a determining factor for improving the quality of life and promoting economic growth, through their incorporation as a fundamental element in the Ecological Transition sponsored by the European Union. For this reason, it is a priority for CTCON to work on actions that promote its growth and evolution in green, sustainable and high-performance infrastructures. The actions are aimed at promoting the circular economy in such a way as to encourage the saving of natural resources, their reuse, the use and recycling of industrial waste and the reduction of CO2 emissions in the production of materials related to infrastructures by saving the energy consumed.

Lines of R&D&I

  • Development of modified binders using polymeric and multifunctional additives.
  • Foaming of bitumens. Optimisation of parameters using foaming agents.
  • Synthetic and alternative binders.
  • Development of asphalt mixes with reclaimed and recycled materials.
  • Asphalt mixes and surface treatments with high anti-slip performance.
  • Low temperature asphalt mixes with additives and foamed bitumen.
  • Asphalt mixtures and surface treatments with high solar and infrared reflectance.
  • Highly sustainable pavements: durability, saving of natural resources, reuse of organic and inorganic waste, high safety and comfort features, reduction of consumption and tyre wear.
  • Urban pavements with thermal functions that mitigate the heat island effect in cities.
  • Floorings with acoustic characteristics. Soundproofing and acoustic alarm.
  • Permeable pavements for flood control and improvement of the quality of the water collected in them.
  • Implementation of new technologies in road maintenance.
  • Adaptation of infrastructures to new working environments (BIM, IoT, etc.).
  • Development of prefabricated SUDS with high storage capacity and in the treatment of industry waste for use as granular filter layers.
  • Research and development of new strategies and systems to advance resilience, sustainability and generate better living conditions for citizens: adapting and mitigating the impact of climate change, contributing to climate resilience and protecting against extreme weather events, reducing energy consumption in the urban water cycle and reinforcing the importance of water resources and green spaces.
