{"id":18250,"date":"2023-06-28T12:51:26","date_gmt":"2023-06-28T12:51:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ctcon-rm.com\/ctcon-participa-en-el-desarrollo-de-un-software-que-determina-la-vida-util-de-las-estructuras-de-hormigon-en-ambientes-marinos\/"},"modified":"2023-06-28T12:51:26","modified_gmt":"2023-06-28T12:51:26","slug":"ctcon-participa-en-el-desarrollo-de-un-software-que-determina-la-vida-util-de-las-estructuras-de-hormigon-en-ambientes-marinos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ctcon-rm.com\/en\/ctcon-participates-in-the-development-of-software-that-determines-the-lifetime-of-concrete-structures-in-marine-environments\/","title":{"rendered":"CTCON participates in the development of a software that determines the service life of concrete structures in marine environments."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Researchers from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/murciadiario.com\/tag\/109\/upct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT)<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;have developed&nbsp;<strong>together with the company&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/murciadiario.com\/tag\/409\/cementos-la-cruz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cementos La Cruz<\/a>&nbsp;and the<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/murciadiario.com\/tag\/1088\/centro-tecnologico-de-la-construccion-ctcon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Construction Technology Centre<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;a computer programme that determines the service life of concrete structures exposed to marine environments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mar\u00eda del Pilar Hidalgo Torrano's thesis, supervised by Juan Francisco S\u00e1nchez and Iv\u00e1n Alhama<\/strong>&nbsp;and carried out within the Doctoral Programme in Technology and Modelling in Civil, Mining and Environmental Engineering, has achieved as a&nbsp;<strong>main result the development of the Concrelife\u00ae software<\/strong>registered as intellectual property and which&nbsp;<strong>uses the determination of the chloride concentration to determine the corrosion of concrete structures.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This system helps enormously in planning a proper maintenance schedule.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The software can be applied to both new and existing structures.<\/strong>, y&nbsp;<strong>allows to determine&nbsp;<\/strong>the time in which the necessary concentration is reached so that&nbsp;<strong>the onset of corrosion of the reinforced concrete structure.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By capturing all the mechanisms of chloride penetration in concrete: diffusion, entrainment, migration, capillary suction and formation of chloride salts (bound and precipitated chloride), and by being validated with experimental data, the programme provides very accurate results in its predictions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The software calculates the service life of reinforced concrete based on its porosity, saturation and diffusivity characteristics.<\/strong>among other parameters, and assessing environmental conditions, including ambient temperature, relative humidity and ambient chlorine concentration. The project has been financed in part with European Feder funds through the<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/murciadiario.com\/tag\/342\/cdti\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&nbsp;<\/a>CDTI<\/strong>.
