Launching the Sustainable Architecture and Construction Strategy

Aim of the project

The Strategy, which is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN) and the European Urban Agenda, promotes energy efficient installations and the use of green roofs and vertical gardens, as well as all nature-based solutions that not only improve air quality but also minimise the impact of flooding.

In addition, it also promotes the culture of extending the useful life of buildings by encouraging their maintenance or rehabilitation, and the recovery of demolition and construction waste, which will favour an industrial symbiosis with other productive sectors.

"We are committed to materials and elements that minimise the water and carbon footprint, and modular construction systems that facilitate the dismantling of the building so that the products can be reused and recycled," the councillor explained. He pointed out that it proposes the design of flexible spaces that can be adapted to other uses in a simple way, without having to make costly investments that also generate a lot of waste.
