The Autonomous Community is promoting the 'green revolution' in the construction sector through the development of the Sustainable Architecture and Construction Strategy (EACS), which advocates a real ecological transition in the area of building, following the line promoted by the United Nations and the European Union.
The Regional Minister for Development and Infrastructures, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, highlighted the role that the Construction Technology Centre (CTCON) will play as a "driving force for innovation" in this sector in the Region of Murcia in the coming years.
"The regional government believes that this non-profit organisation has the necessary experience and resources to implement measures that favour the transition towards the circular economy promoted by international institutions, which is based on the renewal and recycling of materials to give them a new life," explained the regional minister.
Díez de Revenga recalled that the recovery of demolition and construction waste is one of the measures contained in the new construction model promoted by the regional government.
"This centre can be a spearhead in the commitment to materials and elements that minimise the carbon footprint, and to construction systems that facilitate the dismantling of the building so that the products can be recycled and reused, through a modular conception", explained the regional head.
The councillor highlighted several innovation projects being carried out by CTCON in the field of digitalisation, combining BIM (building information modelling) technology with geographic information systems (GIS) to optimise waste reuse operations, as well as the white asphalt project to reduce the 'heat island' effect.
