CE Marking Seminar - Innovation and New Advances

Great success at the seminar on the CE Marking of Construction Products. The event, held at CROEM and organized by CTCON, brought together nearly fifty attendees interested in the requirements and processes associated with CE marking. We extend our gratitude to the speaker, Sonia Rodríguez (Director of Certification at APPLUS), for her outstanding contribution.

The session commenced with an introduction focusing on quality levels in the construction sector. This initial point provided an overview of the importance of maintaining high-quality standards in the production of materials and products.

A crucial theme addressed during the seminar was the distinction between mandatory and voluntary certification. This segment of the program explored contexts in which CE certification is an essential requirement and when it is an option for manufacturers. The benefits and obligations associated with both perspectives were discussed, providing a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities for stakeholders in the construction industry.

The core of the event was dedicated to CE Marking itself, with a detailed analysis of its essential elements. The importance of this marking in terms of compliance with European standards was highlighted, as well as its role in facilitating the free movement of products within the single market.

The future Digital Passport was discussed, including its progress and the expected implementation in the European Union member states.

Furthermore, specific examples were presented to illustrate the practical application of CE Marking in different contexts. Two specific systems were explored: System 1+/1, focused on cement, and System 2+, covering precast concrete. These examples provided concrete cases that allowed participants to better understand how CE Marking principles are applied in specific situations in the construction industry.

The session concluded with a dedicated space for conclusions, where key points discussed during the event were summarized. This section allowed participants to pose questions, reflect, and establish connections between the various topics discussed.

Among the attendees were employees from companies such as Hormicruz, Cementos La Cruz, Estudio Hurtado Arquitectos S.L, Sierra Minera, Asfaltos Pablo De León S.L, ECOncrete, Applus, Bujercal Ibérica S.L, MRM Electromecánica De Murcia, COAATIEMU, Terrapilar, Construcciones Hermanos Espin, and Áridos Abanilla, as well as some self-employed individuals and private participants.
