AFEC - Association of Air Conditioning Equipment Manufacturers

The European Union has just allocated a package of €140 billion in aid to Spain for economic recovery from Covid-19, aimed, among other things, at the digitization of companies, administrations, and citizens, as well as accelerating the achievement of emission reduction goals established in the Paris Agreement.

Aerothermal heat pump technology is undergoing a true revolution, with all major European manufacturers launching innovative, high-performance equipment at lower costs, with greater capabilities and improved comfort. This has led governments to almost prescribe their implementation in new housing and encourage their use in the gradual replacement of combustion boilers, such as the new CTE that came into effect on October 24, 2020, and the Recovery Plan that the Government sent to Brussels on April 30th, which allocates €6.8 billion for building rehabilitation (component 2), excluding funding for actions involving fossil fuels.

Aerothermy is a technology that directly contributes to achieving the three goals set in Europe:

• Greater efficiency: it produces between 3 and 6 units of heat or cold with one unit of electrical energy.

• More renewables: the energy captured from the air is counted as renewable energy generated by the user. The progressive electrification allows for the development of new renewable energy installations.

• Lower emissions: it reduces the consumption of fossil fuels common in air conditioning to that of the electric mix, increasingly renewable.

The Technological Construction Center (CTCON) participates on July 7th in these workshops with a presentation on "Aerothermy and Geothermy in the promotion of new housing," showcasing examples of the implementation of aerothermal and geothermal heat pumps in new construction, both single-family homes and apartment blocks.
