SUSTAINABUILD, CTCON's project to promote capacity building and awareness of environmental challenges, is launched

CTCON, together with Universities of Denmark, which leads the project, Finland and Norway, will launch a project to develop activities that promote the acquisition of capacities and awareness of the challenges of sustainable development of the UN. The project will address the relationship between the built environment and the 17 Global Goals that have been marked as the axis of development in this century of the construction sector. The general objective is to provide students, teachers and construction workers with greater knowledge in sustainability, improving the awareness and interdisciplinarity of the workforces that are modernizing the sector and doing so with an international perspective, using innovative learning methods, and with a greater weight of the digital environment.

The role of the Construction Technology Center is to include the vision of the important industry of the sector it represents and allow it to benefit from the results of the project and applications ofthis, not only in universities, but also in business. It is a project in which the Professionshojskolen University College of Nordjylland of DInamarca (Coordinator of SUSTAINABUILD), the Satakunnan Ammattikorkeakoulu Oy of Finland, the Hogeschool PXL University of Belgium and CTCON participate and will last three years (2022-2024).

The development of green sectoral competences and future-oriented curricula are essential aspects of preparing students, teachers, and professionals to become real drivers of change. It should be remembered that the construction sector is responsible for 40% of energy use, a third of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, and has one of the most important waste streams generated in the EU.

The SUSTAINABUILD project is funded by the Erasmus+Programme, which aimsto promotethe educational mobility of individuals and groups, both students and staff, as well as cooperation, quality, inclusion and equity, excellence, creativity and innovation at the level of organisations and policies through lifelong learning, the educational, professional and personal development of people in the fields of education and training, youth and sport, within Europe and outside its territory.
