Objective of the project

Road transport infrastructures are essential elements in national connectivity and mobility, essential for the structuring of the territory and improvement of social cohesion. Road transport is a basic tool in the economic and social development of a country, since it allows the flow of goods and people throughout its territory. In this context, during the last few years, an important paradigm shift has been experienced in the production of pavements, motivated by issues related to the extraction and synthesis of natural resources necessary for their manufacture.

With these considerations, the General Objective of the BIOREPAV project is to develop bio-materials, obtained from the revaluation of waste, to be integrated in the production process of bituminous mixtures, contributing to an improvement in sustainability. As a main result, it is expected to minimize the consumption of natural resources in the manufacture of asphalt mixtures, responding to a growing environmental and energy concern, not only in the construction sector, but also in society as a whole.

In short, this project aims to cover specific needs within the construction sector, developing new materials and pavements obtained from the revaluation of different wastes produced in the Region of Murcia.
