Objective of the project

The LIFE NEEVE project aims to achieve an improvement in air quality and sustainability in road transport, which will have a direct impact on the quality of life and health of citizens. To this end, this project aims to revolutionize the road transport sector, by developing innovative methods for the reduction and measurement of emissions not from exhaust gases (Non-Exhaust Emissions, NEE), due to the vehicle-pavement interaction (tyres, brakes and asphalt pavements).
The development of this project includes research and technological development in the different aspects involved in the generation of NEE, such as brake pads/discs, tires and asphalt pavements. The LIFE NEEVE project aims to analyze this behavior in real environments (Spain and Germany), through new real-time measurement systems for vehicles, which allow quantifying the NEE emissions produced.
To achieve the stated objectives, the LIFE NEEVE project consortium will launch a series of actions and strategies that will allow these technological improvements to be promoted, reproduced and exploited throughout the EU. With this, it is hoped to raise awareness about the importance and dangers of NEE, as well as encourage the different agents involved to take actions that improve air quality, human health and the climate.
The consortium is formed by: University of Seville (US), CHM Obras e Infraestructuras SA, Center for Environmental and Technological Energy Research (CIEMAT), HORIBA Europe GmbH, Frenos Icer SA, Paudire Innova, RDT Ingenieros Madrid SL, Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH), Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute and CTCON.
