Objective of the project

The main motivation for carrying out this project is to contribute to sustainability in the production of bituminous mixtures for road pavements. For this purpose, highly durable bituminous mixtures will be developed through foaming techniques and the use of difficult-to-reuse waste.

In recent years, these mixtures have gained importance in the construction sector due to the environmental benefits they entail and the potential improvement for workers on construction sites.

This project aims to combine two trends that are currently focused on new approaches to bituminous mixtures. On one hand, reducing energy consumption in production by lowering the manufacturing temperature, and on the other, promoting the circular economy by incorporating waste from other activities that are difficult to recycle into the bituminous mixtures. Another innovation that will be introduced in the field of bituminous mixtures through this project is related to the study and evolution of the durability of pavements with bituminous mixtures.
