Objective of the project

Currently, the manufacturing processes of bituminous mixtures, intended for the construction of roads and highways, tend to enhance productive actions that have a close relationship and pursuit of sustainability, circular economy, and the mitigation of the effects of climate change. As a fundamental part of this pursuit, in recent years, there has been a significant upsurge in the use of new technologies that allow for the reduction of the manufacturing temperature and spreading of bituminous mixtures.

The general objective of the project is to research and develop high-performance semi-hot bituminous mixtures through the foaming of polymers-modified bitumen.

To achieve this general objective, the following technological objectives must be met:

• Development of new foaming technologies for modified bitumen.
• Improvement of energy savings in the manufacturing of high-performance bituminous mixtures.
• Enhancement of workability and manageability of semi-hot mixtures with modified bitumen.
