Objective of the project

Objectives:

3D printing is a revolutionary tool in the construction sector, enabling faster and more flexible design, development, and manufacturing of products. The use of this technology translates to reduced costs, decreased construction time, and lower labor risks, among other benefits. It is worth noting that it enhances freedom in architectural design by enabling the creation of structures with disruptive designs.

However, 3D printing in the construction and architecture industries is currently in a preliminary phase due to the lack of regulatory standards for 3D printing mortar. The dosing of the mortar for 3D printing is critical as it needs to be transportable and extrudable by a machine and subsequently built in layers with acceptable quality, bonding, and strength.

One of the limitations of this technology currently is the ability to increase layer construction capacity in less time while maintaining the integrity of the whole structure. To achieve this, it is necessary to develop special mixes and design a 3D printer that meets the requirements of these formulas. CTCON and CTMETAL are working on this project to address these challenges.
